Folks here's a story 'bout...

... an entire long weekend spent mooching about.

On Friday, mooching about Camden Town, desperately looking for somewhere to have lunch* and browsing in Fopp. Then doing a little campaigning on the side.

On Saturday, mooching about at home, "tidying up" and writing a leaflet about Camden council's many, varied and award-winning environmental achievements.

On Sunday, mooching about in my mother's house, performing a Trinny & Susannah-style purge on her wardrobe (existing contents: approximately two dozen pairs of trousers in varying shades of navy and brown, two dozen unflattering jackets in shades of navy and brown, some navy and some brown tops).

Today, mooching about on the South Bank in the excellent company of Adriana and the lovely EP, taking photos on the Thames foreshore and in front of Rachel Whiteread's boxes, and lounging about in the Tate Members' room,
thinking about getting some cake.

Is this some kind of mooching record? And is there a better word for it?

* Lunch being a particulary difficult meal to find when you're out and about and not eating any kind of grain-based products.

I suspect it may not be a record and yes, I think there is certainly a better word for it. When I was at school we called it "moulding" as in; "Do you want to go for a mould?". I always did. And "What have you been doing?", "Oh, nothing, just moulding". I did that for five uninterrupted years, several decades ago. It may be time I snapped out of it. I will, I will, just let me mould about for a while first...

...PS. Disappointing result today. Were you there? We were.

Surely cake's got flour in it? Which used to be grain, once upon a time?

Is it just me, or are Trinny & Susannah really drag queens?

Beep: nice word, I haven't heard "moulding" used in that context before. Shall endeavour to work it into my everyday speech forthwith.

Very disappointed about the result. Fortunately was not there, one depressing defeat a month is about all I can take in person. Which is clearly why I'm considering a visit to Highbury this weekend...

Tim: This being Tate Modern, there was a flourless cake option. But I decided not to risk it.

I nurture a fond hope that in some corner of our fair land there are a couple of statuesque gentlemen earning respectable amounts of money as T&S impersonators.
