Actually that's me not explaining it very well - he did stand, just in what's known as a "split ward" (ie the incumbents were two of his lot and one of The Others), and as he was running the campaign which got the other two of his lot back in, despite The Others thinking they'd got all three spots, he got mucho kudos.

OK now I *really* didn't explain that very well.

Basically - he stood, he didn't get in, but the other two did, and as he did all the work and all the organising, everyone loves him now.

Frankly I wouldn't bother trying to understand how it all works, gave up on that years ago myself.

Sadly, but perhaps inevitably, Mr P did not "get in". However due to his general fantasticness at running campaigns and selflessly getting his co-candidates "in" against all odds, he's a bit of a local hero nonetheless.

Terribly dull, politics.

Anyhow, I've clearly been spending too much time in the blogosphere, becasue I didn't think there was anything wrong with that apostrophe.

Good luck to Mr P, though I'm not sure the party deserves such wonderful supporters/candidates as the Pashmina family right now.

Though, when it comes down to it, I always find it very hard voting for anyone else (unless tactics are involved - or stickles are random).
